Flowers in my garden are in bloom, I’m deep into planning numerous trips including a number of shoots for “Weekend Explorer”, and the ocean temperature (that I surf in as much as possible) is getting warmer… slowly. This all means one thing. Summer is coming!
We are deep into putting the final touches on our next season of “Weekend Explorer” shows before releasing them to PBS. So, all of us here are very busy. But, I wanted to get some great information out to you… many of these destinations are in our upcoming episodes. The best and easiest way to do this is through an article that I wrote last summer for Travel World International magazine. It’s called “National Parks Best-Kept Secrets – Tips and Tricks for Exploring ‘America’s Best Idea’”.
You can see the pictures in the html version, link 1. But, I found reading the article easier by going to link 2;
If you like the article, please send me a comment and I’ll post it! Please include “National Park” in the comment, since most of our comments are spam or so general it does not really contribute much to this blog. If you have a great “National Park” tip, please let me know! Thanks for stopping by, and I promise to start blogging regularly from here on out on “travel’s best-kept secrets”.

Welcome to the new “Weekend Explorer” web site. We have a number of micro sites on our various broadcasters’ web sites like PBS, but this is the Big Kahuna main web site. We are adding new features and getting more connected everyday through various social media and new media outlets. We will also be adding more and more ways that you can get more involved as part of the “Weekend Explorer” community. I look forward to hearing from everyone and learning from all of you kindred spirits. All of this isn’t going to happen over night, but just know that we are doing our best to make this web site as useful as possible for you to get information and learn more about “Weekend Explorer” and the great destinations that we feature. I’m hoping to make it entertaining as well. A place to visit for a couple minutes everyday, every week, or whenever you can to forgot your momentary stresses and travel the world even if just vicariously and maybe learn a thing or two along the way. We look forward to your feedback on the web site, our series, and anything else related to “Weekend Explorer”, both good and bad. We want to know how to improve, but please keep your constructive criticism as positive as possible. Everyone here is passionate about what we do and either underpaid or a volunteer. This is a must to allow us to continue to donate our series to PBS stations nationwide. With that said, we do want to keep improving. And, your input is key for us to do that.
We look forward to having you join us on this journey!
